Pinnae Princess Dress

Finally live after a few minor setbacks (just family stuff and extending testing deadline) and available at Ravelry. It will soon be available at Pulling at Strings as well.

Part of my ebook Knitted Fairy Tales, the Pinnae Princess Dress is inspired by the dresses that young Snow White wears on the TV show, Once Upon a Time.

The leafy branch of the fern is usually called a frond. The small leaflets that make up the whole frond are called pinnae.

With seed stitch accents and fern lace, this sweet princess dress was inspired by nature, fairy tales and vintage children’s clothing. A simple knit that is worked in the round, except for the very upper bodice where you are knitting flat to create the buttoned back fasten,

This gorgeous princess- style dress is knit top down and different needle sizes are used for better fit and to make the fern lace nice and open. Blocking brings the lace patterning out to its full beauty.

There are three sleeve options available: sleeveless, short puff and puff with fitted long sleeves for a true royal appearance.

You will need:

  • 800-1500 yards of worsted weight yarn. NOTE- This is an estimate, you may need more or less! The pattern was drafted using Hobby Lobby I love This Cotton Spark and sz 3/4 took 7 sk.
  • 24” (28” for sizes ¾ & up) US sizes 6, 7, 8 circular needles- sz 6 & 7 DPNS for sleeves
  • Size G crochet hook
  • Darning/yarn needle
  • 1” decorative button (I get mine from Tessa Ann:http://www.etsy.com/shop/TessaAnn)

Sweet Babies Updated

2012-01-30_14.04.39_medium2

I have greatly enhanced the pattern to include:

  • better graft instructions, better links and tutorials
  • better layout (numbered pages and new branding)
  • general pattern cleanup (Sweet Babies is one of the first patterns I ever wrote up!)
  • 6 different nature inspired cables found in my various designs and how to place them; per size
  • how to add feet to the 2 smaller sizes (NB/SM)
  • how to add a button down tab for newborns
  • more pictures! 🙂

The 6 cables are-

  1. The Twist
  2. The Braid
  3. The Owl
  4. The Wheatear
  5. The Antler
  6. The Air

I’m SO excited to see what everyone comes up with!

KnitKnots also has new branding with catchy little bird mascots; Chubby the crow and Moony the Moon Phoenix! The blog has been made over and there is now a testing forum!

The Queen is Dead

The Queen is Dead

Inspired by Mary Margaret, or ‘Snow’ on Once Upon a Time I was compelled to recreate the gorgeous sparkling scarf seen in “The Queen is Dead” episode that originally aired on 3.10.13. MM’s version in the show was bulky and made from a yarn that was twisted with sparkle, for an added touch of magic.

The scarf has the option and instructions to create a cowl as well, however I was informed that on the OUAT episode that it is, in fact, a scarf. I have no affiliation with ABC or OUAT and there is no copyright infringement intended as this is my own replica designed by myself.

There are two versions available, in worsted or bulky weight yarns.

You will need:

  • 500-600 yards of worsted / 700-800 yards of bulky weight yarn
  • US sz 8 / US sz 10 straight or circular needles
  • darning or yarn needle
  • cable needle

Creepers

Creepers hat pattern is now live!

Make a pair of Creepers (from the popular Minecraft game) for yourself or a little one. The hats come in two style options: fitted beanie and slouchy pom pom. The block textured brim adds just the right touch. Chart included for duplicate stitching (or intarsia, if you so choose) the face.

Get your copy for FREE! I am running a sale to celebrate spring until March 31st @ midnight (EST). Use the code ‘Hop, hop, hop!’ on any design (not including eBooks, with the exception of Fall Food) of mine on Ravelry.

Soon to be released…

I have quite a lot brewing in the way of design! Currently in testing for an April 1st release:

Autumn 2012 Semi Solids: Reds and Grays

Cambridge

Quite subtly toned deep gray with a fair amount of hue variation.

Macintosh

Almost a true solid, this deeply saturated apple red is a staple color.

Kitten

Tonal grays with hints of pinks and black, purrrfectly girly.

Bloodied

Deep reds and hints of saturated black and deeper red make this semi a yarn to die for.

Gryffindor

In honor of my favorite author JK Rowling, this deep, dark red has hints of black and burgundy throughout. Truly reminiscent of the house color.

Need some of my handdyed yarns? Leave a comment with your email in the form and I will take your custom order.
